International Secondary School Twente
The International Secondary School Twente will open its doors at the Zuid campus at the beginning of the school year 2011-2012. The school has the recognition of the Dutch Ministry of Education. We expect to be able to provide quality education for those pupils who belong to the group the ministry has described.
Enschede already has an International Primary School and the opening of the secondary school will provide complete education for international pupils. The international school will start with year 1 and 2 and in due course will offer education up to the age of 18. Pupils are eligible for the International school if they:
- Are Dutch and have been receiving education at an International school abroad
- Are Dutch and are preparing to leave to an International School abroad
- International pupils who are spending a limited time in the Netherlands
The campus Zuid of Het Stedelijk Lyceum has an 18 year experience with bilingual education. The staff in this department had been working with small MYP (IB) projects. In the exam years of the bilingual programme the IB English programme is available. So far bilingual education has only been available in the first three years. From the new school year a pilot will introduce bilingual education in the higher years.
The ISST opts for a full IB programme. We will offer MYP in the first 4 years and in due course we want to offer the DP in years 5 and 6. We have been given the candidate status and are ambitious to extend this to a full accreditation.
The Zuid campus of Het Stedelijk Lyceum aims to offer its pupils contemporary education and wants to be an international community. This means that both Dutch and International pupils will share a World to be proud of!
